Rev. Steven V. Jones

 


Rev. Jones believes the words of Jesus in Luke 4:18-19, as a mandate to speak truth to the “powers in high places” for justice of those who are spiritually, physically and emotionally oppressed.


Rev. Steven V. Jones is a servant, while unworthy of the right to be used by God is extremely grateful beyond capacity that God still loves him beyond his inadequacy to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Rev. Steven V. Jones was born and reared in Greensboro, NC to Mr. John & Hazel Jones. Following the lead of the Holy Spirit and being guided by his Father and Mother Steven accepted the Lord Jesus as his savior and became a member of the East White Oak Missionary Baptist Church where the late Rev. George Brooks was his initial Pastor. Later under the guidance and tutelage of Pastor Rev. Joseph L. Johnson, Sr., the seeds of ministry began to germinate. Later while in Harlem, New York, Reverend Jones followed the prompting of The Holy Spirit accepted the call to the Gospel Ministry and later enrolled as a student at New York Theological Seminary in the fall of 2010. It was at NYTS he began to study and continue to grow spiritually and was later licensed as a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by Rev. Dr. Eric M. Gladney of Oak Spring Missionary Baptist Church in April of 2012 and also licensed by West Oakland Baptist Church in October 2012.

While at NYTS, Rev. Jones was led to serve as an intern at Goodwill Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Booker T. Sears, Jr. Following the prompting of the Spirit of God, Rev Jones joined Goodwill and now serves as the minister of Worship and Liturgy as well as minister in the Men’s and Youth ministries. Upon the watch of the Pastor Booker T. Sears, Jr. and the Goodwill Baptist Church, Rev. was ordained in August 2018.

Rev. Jones believes the words of Jesus in Luke 4:18-19, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to
proclaim the year of the Lord's favor," as a mandate to speak truth to the “powers in high places” for justice of those who are spiritually, physically and emotionally oppressed.

Professionally, Rev. Steven Jones is the Vice President of Finance Congregation Emanu-El. Prior to this position, he has served as a V.P of Finance of DKMS, Financial Director at the New York Times and Financial Controller for Zomba Recording Corporation & LaFace Records. 

Rev. Jones is a CPA who has 20+ years of experience in public and private accounting. Mr. Jones earned his BS in accounting from the illustrious N.C. A&T State University and is a member of The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Rev. Jones has the honor to be married to his wife of over 15 years Anitra.
